That ought to be the new title of this blog. I haven't been updating much lately, but I've been sketching lots and lots. New school year started, and there will be a co-op chance at the beginning of the summer, so I'm starting to do some concept paintings, or at least attempts of such.

Anime North

I've been refurbishing some old pieces into posters for Anime North. Looking at some of the stuff I did last year, and this year, I feel like I haven't improved a tremendous amount. Much of the time I spend painting or drawing, I spend mucking around until it looks like something that's passable, but I don't think it's a good thing. After AN, I'll spend some time exacting my method a little, try to do away with the mucking around as much as possible and improve my sketching skills.

Hey guys, what's up? A huge picture for your musings, this is my Scientific Illustration final project of the year, and I'm celebrating finishing school. I originally hoped to fill up this blog with more traditional stuff, but it seems that it's more difficult than I first thought. It feels like I've been leaving everything for the summer, and four months seem hardly enough to do everything I've been wanting to do.

I'm going to be going on a trip starting Tuesday for 10 days (ish?), and will log all the boring details of the travels on this blog because I have nowhere else to put this stuff, har har. Pictures and drawings will accompany my rambles, of course, to give you a little entertainment through all the words and letters.

Hope everyone is having a great vacation so far (if you're in college or university that is), otherwise, keep on trucking!

Galaxy of Prawns

Two prawns are hardly a galaxy. I thought I had a lot of work in processes to do, but two are hardly a galaxy, baw.

The winter vacation has been very rewarding, I did a semi-marathon, and 14 days of drawing did me some good. School's started again, so hopefully I'll be able to keep on producing work work work.

New York New York

So a while ago I posted a WIP of a half-coloured girl's face, it was going to be an illustration for a charity artbook. But as time went by and the deadline neared, I balked on the idea and redid the entire picture. The first pic is a failed sketch for a different idea but for the same project. I eventually bailed out on that one as well.

Then I was struck with a face I liked (which... actually reminds me a lot of Geneve at 3 in the morning), so I stuck with it through a couple of weeks, and the end product is the pretty blond with fearsome abs.

...I'm letting the abs slide now because they look nice right now, but I'm also running on whatever coffee I had 5 hours ago, so it's likely going to change tomorrow. I'll give the whole thing a more sobering look tomorrow, and hopefully fix some problems that I don't have the power to fix right now.

Anyways, I'm going to New York City on Thursday, for a total of 9 days. I'm really excited for the trip because of all the museums and galleries in New York, and of course the shopping. Ohoho. I'll be staying with a friend of mine, and I hope to see a co-worker who had left a week (or two) ago to stay in NYC for a while.

All in all, lots of excitement.

But a little sad too because Satoko will leave Canada for Japan next, next week. She's my ex-co-worker and a great friend, so we had a little get together tonight to send her off because I won't be back early enough to see her off properly. Baw.

Alright, enough rambling. Nighty night.

Disturbing, is it not? Some random stuff in paintchat. There used to be sparkles and stars all around him, but I sort edited most of the fabulousity out.

I have a thing for older guys. I dunno, wrinkles are hot, and that aged look is just... so appealing. This one is a little too... cute for me. But they all have their charms.

A painting study I did for colour. I forgot the original artist's name, so I'll amend it when I find it again.

Went to Quebec for three days on one of those Chinese bus tours, we were like locusts with modern transportation. I love Quebec City, it's extremely beautiful with beautiful people and wonderful buildings. The tour happened to coincide with St. Jean Baptiste celebrations, so we sat outside drinking for a while, and it was super fun.

Sorry, I haven't posted in a while. Haven't had the urge to draw anything after Anime North because of the sudden rush, but managed to start some of the commissions, barely. Hopefully they'll be finished near the end of the month.

I've been looking at Joseph Clement Coll's stuff a lot over the past few days, mostly from a book lent to me by Geneve. I won't gush too much, but I'm kind of amazed at a lot of pen and ink artists, so I think I might start doing more of that to practice and such.

Saw UP. Which was amazingly charming, and also Star Trek, twice. Renewed my love in the series, but I'm now dreading all the time I'm going to be spending on youtube searching up old clips of the original series and the Next Generation.

Back from Cuba & Rushing

I don't think I realised how soon Anime North was when I went to Cuba, but somewhere along the way it happened upon me that it's in ONE WEEK. So I'll refrain from making a vacation post for now, and just focus on finishing as many posters as I possibly can. I'm planning to finish at least a poster a day, so I have enough for the table. Wish me luck.

Technically my birthday was yesterday, but was too tired last night to write anything about it, so I'll refrain from saying too much. Today I got a sweet ass cake from work, and then a little present from co-worker, then went to see movie and eat dinner with Geneve and her sister.

4 Months Vacation!

Oooooh boy. Summer's finally here, but somehow I don't feel free just yet. I'm not necessarily sure about how well I did in school, and judging from the 10 hour homework marathon I did today, I ain't hopin' for any honour roll spaces this time around.

But I'm a little glad about summer, which is 4 months after all, and I'm going to be heading to Cuba for a week as my first official out-of-the-country-not-family-related-non-bus-sitting vacation. Hopefully I'm going to be doing a lot of drawing during the summer months, and level up my skill.

I did this drawing as a study from the photo book of that guy who took that girl's picture which ended up on national geographic and inspired an international sensation. Too spent to look for the title of the book, but rest assured, it is fabulous.

This little thing is an anatomy project I did for life drawing class. Its predecessor melted in my stove, so I redid this in one night. Ignore the mess on the table, for all you know, I've cleaned that up by now.

I'm hoping to get more time to do more figures/sculpture in the summer too, as stress relief, so I'll post some process pics of those in the coming months.

Mean while, I'm going to start bumming around as I'm going to do quite often during this vacation.
